FAQ
About Standard™ Antimicrobial Coating and Disinfectant...
1.
Does the jMedGuard® Standard™ Antimicrobial Surface Coating prevent COVID-19 virus transmission?
Our medical grade coating technology allows introduction of potent Singapore National Environment Agency (NEA) recommended disinfecting ingredients to surfaces. Through testing on a range of viruses and bacteria, in various environments such as public transport and high-touch areas, the Standard™ Coating is proven to be effective in neutralising COVID-19 Coronaviruses and preventing transmission for COVID-19.
2.
How long does the jMedGuard® Standard™ Antimicrobial Surface Coating last? Are there circumstances where the Coating lasts shorter than its promised duration?
The jMedGuard® Standard™ Antimicrobial Surface Coating lasts for at least 90 days or at least 180 days when applied professionally with specialised equipment.
The coating will be removed from physical scratching or scrapping, so please refrain from using sharp objects on coated surfaces to ensure the promised coating longevity.
3.
What kind of surfaces can the jMedGuard® Standard™ Antimicrobial Surface Coating be applied on?
The coating can be applied on all surfaces except for waxed surfaces - as this compromises the spread and binding of the coating solution. Ensure your surface is clean and oil-free for robust coating application.

Applicable surfaces include textiles (cloth), as well as other porous and non-porous materials. The coating is ideal for fibres as well, which means effective application on carpeted floors to prevent molds and smell-causing bacteria growth.

For more information and list of coverage, please refer to our Standards™ range page.
4.
Can I still wash surfaces after applying jMedGuard® Antimicrobial Surface Coating on them?
Yes, regular cleaning detergents and disinfectants do not affect or remove the Standard™ Coating and it will remain effective against germs for its promised duration. However, please avoid use of sharp objects or abrasive agents for cleaning.

To maintain the Standard™ Coating, we recommend the use of InstaClean™ disinfectant to provide the coating with a quick refresh, to remove any dirt accumulated on coated surfaces.
5.
How does the jMedGuard® Standard™ Antimicrobial Coating work against microbes, viruses and bacteria? How is its usage lifetime determined?
Our Standard™ antimicrobial coating solution is an anti-bacterial, anti-mold and anti-viral solution that seeks to prevent microbes. Please refer to our Standard™ range page for a detailed explanation of the mechanism involved in this technology.

The coating has been rigorously tested in both lab and field. In the lab, it was ascertained that professionally applied coating can last simulated wiping of 1,200 cycles, typical of 180 days routine disinfection and surface usage. The study was conducted to assess the subsequent microbial risk of antimicrobial coated surfaces damaged by wiping and abrasion. In the field, the coating has been tested in high-touch environments such as buses, trains, retail malls, eateries and schools. Tests revealed that the professionally coated surfaces were able to continuously self-disinfect for at least 180 days.
6.
Does this mean I don't need to wash my hands?
No, of course not. The Standard™ Antimicrobial Coating prevents germs from transferring among various parties interacting with the coated surface, but existing germs already on your hands will still remain, and can make you sick. Please continue to practise general hygiene with regular hand washing.
7.
What are the active ingredients used in the jMedGuard® Standard™ Antimicrobial Coating?
jMedGuard® Standard™ Antimicrobial Coatings use modified quaternary ammonium chloride as an active ingredient. This is listed by the US-EPA, and recommended by Singapore National Environmental Agency as an effective ingredient against COVID-19 transmission. More information can be found in our Material Safety Data Sheet. Please contact us for a copy of the SDS.
8.
Is the jMedGuard® Standard™ Antimicrobial Coating harmful to the skin or the environment? Can I apply it on my hands?
No, the Standard™ Coating is safe for use, when applied according to the "Instructions of Use". Ingredients used in the Standard™ Coating has been tested by US EPA and international laboratories to ensure that the product is harmless to both our skins and the environment.
We have taken a step further to perform toxicological and dermatological studies to ensure the safety of the products for our users.

That being said, please refrain from applying the Standard™ Coating on your skin, but use our Foami Foami™ Long-Lasting Hand Sanitiser instead.
9.
Is there any preparation required prior to applying jMedGuard® Standard™ Antimicrobial Coating?
Please ensure that the surface to be coated is clean and dry for optimal coating efficiency. Any oily or soiled surfaces should be cleaned of lime scale and grime before application.
10.
Can I add the jMedguard® Standard™ Antimicrobial Solution into other chemical cleaners or detergent as part of my cleaning routine?
It is not advisable for you to mix the solutions as it will affect the efficacy of the Standard™ antimicrobial coating solution. Apply the Standard™ Coating after cleaning the surfaces and wait for the coating solution to dry (~10mins) to allow the coating to bond onto surfaces. You may clean the treated surfaces regularly with chemical cleaners after to refresh coat. We recommend the InstaClean™ disinfectant for quick disinfection and refresh of coated surfaces.
11.
Is it a must to use microfibre cloth to wipe?
No, but it is recommended. If you wish to apply using other forms of application cloth or tissue, it is good to ensure that the applicator is wet with a bit of the product before wiping.
For large area application such as in offices or public area, electrostatic spraying is recommended for convenience and more effective coverage of surfaces. You may drop us a contact for more information on our professional coating service.
12.
Can jMedGuard® Standard™ Antimicrobial Solution be applied onto reusable masks?
Yes, you can. Apply by spraying the product liberally on the outer side of the mask and allow it to air dry overnight for at least 6 hours before use. The coating will last approximately 30 washes.
13.
Does jMedGuard® Standard™ Antimicrobial Coating cause antimicrobial resistance?
No, our antimicrobial coating mechanism works by destroying microbes through physical means of membrane rupturing instead of chemical poisoning. Therefore the microbes will not be able to build resistance and immunity against this disinfection method, disabling them from transforming into “super bugs”.
About Foami Foami™ Long-lasting Hand Sanitiser...
1.
Does Foami Foami™ Long-lasting Hand Sanitiser prevent COVID-19 virus transmission?
Our medical grade coating technology allows introduction of potent Singapore National Environment Agency (NEA) recommended disinfecting ingredients to hands and skins. The coating formed on applied hands and skins will continuously disinfect and reduce Coronaviruses infectious viral loads, making it less likely to sustain COVID-19 infections. Hand sanitisation has been proven to be effective in preventing transmission for COVID-19.
2.
Why use Foami Foami™ Long-lasting Hand Sanitiser over traditional alcohol-based hand sanitisers?
Foami Foami™ helps to protect your hands and skin without the drawbacks of using alcohol. These drawbacks include the drying effects of alcohol, which chap skins, and further create cracks and crevices where germs and microbes may trap or hide.

In addition, alcohol-based hand sanitisers provide "one-off" killing of bacteria when your hands are wet from application, but they do not protect your hands for a prolonged period thereafter. With Foami Foami™, a single application can last you the whole day due to the protective barrier formed on skins, which is effective against microbes.

Our formulation is also water-based and non-flammable, unlike alcohol-based hand sanitisers.
3.
